Three years in captivity with a bullet in his heart

A bullet was removed from the heart of a Ukrainian defender who was recently released from Russian captivity.

He lived with this bullet inside him for three years while in captivity. Boris Todurov, director of the Heart Institute of the Ukrainian Ministry of Health, wrote about this on his Facebook page.

The surgeon said that the soldier was defending Azovstal in Mariupol during the Russian offensive, was taken prisoner, and was exchanged two months ago.

All this time, he lived with a bullet in his heart, which, fortunately, did not cause any damage. He has now undergone successful surgery.

“He had this bullet for three years. Fortunately, it did not cause any damage, and now we have removed it. The guy is lucky. I think he will live a long and happy life,” said the renowned Ukrainian surgeon Todurov.

Earlier reports of a Ukrainian soldier’s miraculous escape during close combat. One bullet hit the GoPro camera attached to his helmet, and the second ricocheted off the helmet.
