Four police officers were killed in a shooting in the United States. Three police officers and a federal marshal were killed. Four of their colleagues were injured

Shooting in the U.S.: four police officers killed

It is reported that in the city of Charlotte, in the U.S. state of North Carolina, in a shootout with a criminal killed four law enforcement officers.

Three police officers and a federal marshal died. Also, four of their colleagues were injured in the shootout.

The law enforcement officers had to apprehend a man suspected of possessing a weapon. They were fired upon.

The team that came to their aid also came under fire. The firefight lasted about three hours – until the arrival of heavy equipment rammed the house.

The gunman was killed. A woman and a 17-year-old were found in the house and have been detained.

US President Joe Biden and Governor Roy Cooper expressed condolences to the loved ones of the victims.

One of the slain police officers, Joshua Ayer, was recently recognized as the best police officer in April.
