Forest fires broke out in South Korea

It became known that large-scale forest fires broke out in South Korea and burned a thousand-year-old Buddhist temple.

The fires began on March 21 in Sangcheon county, but because of strong winds, the flames quickly spread to neighboring areas.

So far, 4 dead and another 6 injured, most in serious condition, are known.

The fire also burned down the thousand-year-old Unramsa Buddhist temple in Eiseong district, which was built during the Silla Dynasty.

Despite this, monks managed to save several unique sacred relics.

In total, the fires have already destroyed more than 7,907 acres of forest, and the country’s government has declared a national disaster regime.
