Chip for quantum computers

It became known that Google has presented a new chip for quantum computers. About it, writes BBC.

The chip can for five minutes to calculate the solution to the problem, which the fastest modern conventional computer will take 10 septillion (10 with 24 zeros) years.

Experts, however, note that while Willow (so Google named this chip): this is mainly an experimental device.

Before the practical use of quantum computers in solving real-world problems is still many years away, and it will require huge costs.

Quantum computers utilize the phenomena of quantum mechanics, which dramatically increases the ability to process and transmit data.

Over time, quantum computers are expected to significantly speed up computing.

They are needed in many branches of modern science: for example, in the creation of new drugs.
