In the UK, on the Isle of Wight, archaeologists have found a dinosaur skeleton about 125 million years old.
According to experts, this is the most complete dinosaur skeleton of all that have been found on the territory of the UK in the last century.
The findings have been published in the journal Papers in Palaeontology.
Dr. Jeremy Lockwood gave the dinosaur the name Comptonatus chasei. He combined the location of the discovery—Compton – Compton Bay – and the Latin word tonatus, meaning rattling.
Experts estimate that the dinosaur weighed about a ton and was comparable in size to a large male American bison.
Most likely, the dinosaur led a gregarious lifestyle and lived in floodplains. Its lower jaw was straight, and its pubic bone was much larger
Eight new dinosaur species have been discovered and described on the Isle of Wight in the last five years.
Earlier it was reported that archaeologists during excavations managed to discover an ancient cross.
The ancient cross was in the form of a tablet, with an unusual image of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and Golgotha.
